The “i want to build a house on my land where do i start” is a question that comes up often. The first step in this process is to find out if you have the land available to build on.
A Few Remarks on Wireless Technology
I’ve seen wireless video demonstrations, heard fantastic wireless audio demos, experienced wireless charging, and witnessed other incredible improvements in wireless technology that have astounded me!
I’m a big supporter of new wireless technology. It provides fantastic options for both new and existing residences.
However, if I had the choice, I would like to prewire the following things.
1. Video
- TVs – In addition to RG6 for cable/satellite, TVs need wire for three functions: video (if video distribution is desired), network, and control. In the ‘How To Prewire A Smart Home’ post, I go through the details.
- Projectors — Whenever practical, I run flexible conduit to projectors. When conduit isn’t an option, I use Cat6 and fiber to connect the projector. Over time, HDMI becomes faulty or outmoded, and conduit lets you to replace it as required.
- Prewiring for Video Distribution – I prepared a detailed article on prewiring for Video Distribution here. What I’ll say is that, despite all of the cord-cutting, I feel you should still wire for video distribution.
A note on FIBER and CONDUIT. Although I do not think that every house need fiber, we have reached a stage where you should carefully consider it.
2. Primary and Secondary Surround Sound
In their primary media room or theater, most individuals consider prewiring surround sound. Prewiring for Secondary Surrounds should also be considered.
The objective is to simply increase the volume in bigger spaces when flatscreen TVs lack the speaker capability to cover the space.
The possibilities are endless: master bedroom, covered deck, pool, great room, and so on. Consider a soundbar or full surround if you have a room where you may benefit from extra sound.
3. Audio for the Home
This is where I will be the most aggressive when wiring a house myself.
When you’ve had your first taste of Home Audio, you’ll want more, not less.
Showers, restrooms, covered decks, front porches, landscape speakers, and other areas where you may desire music should be prewired for audio.
If you’re going to spend any time in a room, make sure it’s wired for audio. Clients have even had corridors and walkways prewired for events.
Remember to bring your Landscape Speakers.
Landscape speakers are made to allow you to hear the sound as loudly as you like while not bothering your neighbors.
If you want to use landscape speakers, you’ll need to figure out how many zones you’ll need and prewire appropriately.
Wire is usually pulled to a junction box on the home’s side. We’ll utilize it as a connecting point later, after the landscaping is completed, and run the remainder of the wiring outdoors.
Building a home is one of the most exciting things that you can do. There are many ways to build your own home, but there is one way that stands out above all others: building it online. Reference: build a house online.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it cheaper to build a house or build a house?
A: It depends on how much you are willing to spend. If youre looking for a cheap house, its better to build one yourself. If not, houses can be built cheaper if they are made with prefabricated materials and the builder does not have to provide any services or make alterations after construction is complete.
Where do I start if I want to build a house?
A: It is important to start with finding a design that you really like, this will help keep your decision on what materials to use and the general look of the house. Once you have done this its time to create an outline for where things are going in your structure using graph paper or software such as Adobe Illustrator. After getting started drawing out ideas its time to break down each room into their specific designs like floors, walls, doors etc., these can be drawn by hand but should also include any furniture needed for each individual space.
