Can Alexa Call 911 in an Emergency?

In an emergency, can Alexa dial 911?

Out of the box, your Amazon Alexa Echo device will not be able to dial 911. However, with an Connect with Echo, your Amazon Echo may phone 911 or initiate a 911 call with certain monitored alarm systems.

Here are a few Alexa commands that will enable you to contact 911 or request assistance.

Alexa has a few choices for making an emergency call:

  1. Echo Connect — With Echo Connect, Alexa can make phone calls from your landline at home. You can use Alexa to contact 911 if you have an Echo Connect set up with your Echo device. Unfortunately, Amazon does not sell the Echo Connect at this moment.
  2. Monitored Alarm Systems — With Alexa, you can operate a lot of monitored alarm systems with your voice. Some of these systems enable you to activate a panic alert just by speaking. Others let you arm the alarm system with your voice, which may subsequently activate the emergency call.

Alexa can link to a variety of alarm systems, allowing you to operate them with your voice. You can only arm and deactivate the alarm on certain systems. Others, on the other hand, enable you to activate the Panic Alarm using your voice, which usually results in your alarm provider contacting emergency personnel on your behalf.

Alarm systems are updated on a regular basis, so please let me know if new features are introduced to an alarm system in the comments section below.
