The Amazon Fire Stick is a budget-friendly alternative to the full featured Cube with similar features for those who don’t need all the bells and whistles but still want great usability.
The “fire cube vs fire stick 4k specs” is a comparison between the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick. I use both, so I will compare them in my blog.
Two of the greatest streaming gadgets on the market are the Amazon Cube TV for Firestick and the Amazon 4K Fire Stick. Both of these gadgets are excellent performers and have comparable features. There is, however, one significant distinction that may make it the obvious pick.

Key Differences Between the Cube TV for Firestick and the Fire Stick
When comparing the Cube TV for Firestick to the 4K Fire Stick, there are two major distinctions. The first is Far Field Voice Control, which may be the most compelling argument to go with the Cube TV for Firestick. The second point to consider is minor hardware changes that might be the decisive factor for you.
1 – Voice Control in the Far Field
Do you want to use your voice to switch on your television?
You can use far field voice control to switch your TV on or off, alter the volume, change the inputs, and more. With far field voice control, you can also operate your other audio video equipment (soundbars, DVD players, and so on) with your voice. Most IR-enabled TVs and AV equipment are compatible with the Fire TV Cube.
Far Field Voice Control allows for hands-free operation without the need of the remote’s voice control.
The Fire TV Cube lets you control your TV with your voice rather than a remote.
This is, in my opinion, the most compelling argument to buy the Fire TV Cube over the 4K Fire Stick. “Alexa…tune to CBS,” I can say from my basement, and the TV will switch on and change the station to CBS.
With a Fire TV, you may change the channel or control movie playing with any connected Echo device. The Fire TV Cube, on the other hand, is the only gadget with built-in IR voice control for your TV.
Here’s a brief rundown of the Fire Stick vs. Fire TV Cube’s Far Field TV voice control choices.
Fire TV Cube | Fire Stick 4K
Turn on/off the television | Yes | No |
Controlling the volume | Yes | No |
Change the input on your television | Yes | No |
Switch to another channel | Yes | *With Echo Connected |
Playback Controls: Play – Pause – Fast Forward – Rewind | Yes | *With Echo Connected |

The bundled Voice Remote works with both the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick to control your TV.
The Amazon Fire TV Blaster was recently introduced. If you have a compatible Fire Stick, an Echo Device, and a Fire TV Blaster, you can use voice control to operate your TV in the same way as the Fire TV Cube does. This is a new product with mixed ratings, but if you already have several Echo devices in your house, it could be worth considering.
2 – Hardware Variations
Between the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick, there are a few hardware changes. Overall, the Fire TV Cube outperforms the Fire Stick in terms of memory and processing speed. Both gadgets, on the other hand, operate well and react swiftly to input instructions.
Ethernet support is also included into the Fire TV Cube. If you can connect your Fire TV directly to the internet instead of using WiFi, this may be crucial.
Direct ethernet support is usually more stable and quicker than WiFi, however this depends on your local configuration. The Fire Stick does come with an extra ethernet adapter that you can buy separately, but this will raise the device’s total cost.
When comparing the Fire TV Cube with the Fire Stick, here’s a rundown of the primary hardware differences.
Fire TV Cube | Fire Stick 4K
Storage / Memory | 16GB | 8GB |
Processor | Hexa-core | Quad-core |
Adapter for Ethernet | Included | Optional Extra (see below) |
The Fire Stick may be upgraded to provide ethernet connection with the purchase of an extra adapter.
Ethernet Adapter for Fire TV
- Is your Wi-Fi connection slow or unreliable? Take advantage of wired internet’s speed and dependability.
- Simply put the Amazon Ethernet Adapter into the USB port on your Fire TV and an Ethernet wire straight from your network to get started.
- Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), 4K Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, and Amazon Fire TV are all compatible (3rd Gen, Pendant Design).
Video and Aesthetic Appeal on the Fire TV Cube and Fire Stick 4K
These Fire TV devices make use of some of the most cutting-edge visual and audio technologies available.
Video Quality
The video quality on both the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick 4K is excellent. With many of the most current HDR versions, you may stream Ultra HD 4K video with any device you want. HDR, HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision are all examples of this.
Sound Quality
The Fire TV Cube and Fire Stick 4k both include some of the most up-to-date surround sound choices. Dolby Atmos, 7.1 channel surround sound, and 2 channel stereo sound are all included. With HDMI audio pass through, both devices can pass over up to 5.1 audio.
Fire TV Cube | Fire Stick 4K
Dolby Atmos | Yes | Yes, indeed (Not on Netflix) |
Surround sound in 7.1 channels | Yes | Yes |
Stereo (two channels) | Yes | Yes |
Pass-through of HDMI audio | Yes | Yes |
Size & Design Comparison: Fire TV Cube vs. Fire Stick 4K
The size and look of the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick are visibly different.
For an ultra-clean appearance, the Fire Stick can be effortlessly concealed behind your TV. The Fire TV Cube, on the other hand, will need to be either next to your TV or fixed to the wall using one of the many TV mounts available.
The Fire TV Cube, on the other hand, isn’t much larger than an Echo Dot. The Fire TV Cube’s real dimensions are less than 3.5″ wide, height, and deep. It really looks very good attached to the side of a soundbar, which is what I have in my home setup.
The Wall-Mounted Fire TV Cube
This is the mount I use for my Fire TV Cube. The Fire TV Cube’s feet fit snugly and firmly into the mount.
Wall Mount for WALI Fire TV Cube
- WALI wall mount is built specifically for the fire TV cube. (Please note that the fire TV cube is not included.)
- Features: four pre-drilled holes that exactly connect with the foot of the fire TV cube to keep it in place.
- Our mount does not hinder the fire TV cube’s 8 microphones or IR emitters, so you can enjoy high-quality sound.
- With the accompanying screws and a 90-degree HDMI adaptor, installation is a breeze.
Voice Remote for Fire TV Cube and Fire Stick 4K
Both the Fire TV Cube and the Fire Stick come with the new Fire TV Voice Remote.
An IR Blaster is included in this remote, allowing you to control the Power, Volume, and Input on most televisions. This is an excellent addition to the Fire TV Remote since it enables you to use it to replace your existing TV remote.
To switch on or off the TV, the new Fire TV Voice Remote features a dedicated power button. It also features specific volume up and volume down keys, which the earlier version of the remote lacked.
I’m not sure which one to get.
Both gadgets are present in my house. The Fire TV Cube is more suited for certain rooms and TVs, while the Fire Stick 4K is sufficient for others.
You only have one option if you want built-in voice control of your TV (power, volume, and input). If you want Dolby Atmos via Netflix, the Fire TV Cube is also a good option since the Fire Stick 4K doesn’t support it now.
If you don’t need hands-free voice control of your television, the Fire TV Stick 4K is the better option. The audio and visual capabilities are identical (with the exception of Netflix’s Dolby Atmos problem), and both devices utilize the most recent version of the voice remote.
