Why is My Ring Doorbell Flashing White?

When you’re away from home, it’s important to know when people are ringing your doorbell. A connected Ring Doorbell can send text or email notifications if someone rings your bell, and the app will show you who is at the front door. If something goes wrong while they are there, a live video feed of what’s happening outside allows them to see everything in real-time!

The “ring doorbell flashing white when charging” is a common problem with the Ring Doorbell. It can be caused by several different things, but there are some fixes that you can try.

You may have noticed that the white patterns on your Ring doorbell are flashing.

What exactly does this imply? And what are you going to do about it?

Continue reading to find out the answers.

White Light Patterns on the Doorbell

On your Ring doorbell, you’ll see five different white light patterns. Each light signifies a problem that must be resolved before your Ring can function correctly. The following is a list of all of the Ring Doorbell white light patterns and their meanings:

1. White Light Spinning Ring

A spinning white light on your Ring doorbell indicates that the WiFi settings are incorrect. When the Ring Doorbell has a spinning white light, it usually means it doesn’t have any WiFi credentials saved.

This is one of the most prevalent Ring Doorbell problems. Further down in the post, you’ll find instructions on how to reset your Ring Doorbell WiFi.

2. On the top of the ring, there is a white blinking ring.

If your Ring Doorbell has a blinking white light at the top, it signifies you have a password problem. If you see this trend, consider using the Ring app to change the WiFi password on the doorbell.

3. Right-hand ring blinking white

A flickering white light on the right side of your Ring doorbell indicates that a connection fault occurred during setup. When your WiFi signal is too weak to sustain a stable connection, this happens.

If you’re using a battery-operated Ring Doorbell, consider moving it closer to your WiFi network and resetting it. If it works, you’ll know that you need to boost your WiFi signal strength.

With a Ring Chime Pro gadget that plugs into your wall, you can simply boost WiFi signal strength to your Ring Doorbell.

4. On the left, a ring blinks white.

You have a setup issue if your Ring doorbell has a blinking white lift on the left side. This is usually a connectivity issue that has nothing to do with the intensity of the WiFi signal.

Turning off your WiFi network for roughly a minute and then connecting it back in might help you fix the problem. This will resolve any connection difficulties, allowing you to resume the setup process.

5. White Light Flashing Doorbell

There are no issues if the complete Ring Doorbell circle is flashing a white light. This white light pattern indicates that the Ring Doorbell is upgrading its software. It should just take a minute or two for your ring to return to normal.

How to Reset the WiFi on the Ring Doorbell

A WiFi configuration issue is the root of many Ring Doorbell problems. If your ring doorbell won’t connect to the internet or doesn’t have any credentials established, you may generally resolve the issue by resetting the WiFi settings on your ring doorbell.

In the app, look for a Ring Network Issue.

If one of your devices has a WiFi problem, the Ring App will show an error message prominently. Simply launch the Ring App to find out whether the device is offline.

To restore your connection, click “Reconnect This Device” on the Ring App network troubleshooter.

There are two options for resolving your WiFi network problem.

  1. Because your WiFi network password has changed, your device may have lost connectivity. Following the prompts in the app to reset the password is a straightforward repair.
  2. The WiFi network settings on your smartphone may create a problem. Even if nothing has changed, this may happen. In this situation, you’ll have to go through the Ring Doorbell’s network setup procedure all over again.
